Do you ever get the impression you are repeating yourself?
It’s time to speak to a new client (or an existing one), and you feel like you’re delivering the same script you have for years about blahdy-blahdy-blah.
Well, here are three important things to remember.
- The chances are, your little speech leads to income, so you better have some passion. If you don’t believe it, why should they?
- This may be the first time they have ever heard what you are saying the way you say it. When I talk to new people about websites, the pitch hasn’t changed much in twenty years. But, even now, it’s a new way of thinking for many of them.
- Even your most ardent fans need reminding about what you do and why you are the person to trust. The worst phrase you want to hear from a client is, “I never knew you did that!” – especially if they have just commissioned someone else.
So, when you feel like it’s all a bit mundane, imagine it’s the first time; feel fresh.
And remember, you can (and should) repeat yourself. Just make sure you add in a little passion.
